Foodie hotspots in Antwerp // Part I

, , , , ,

Bistros, food shops , trendy eateries and gastronomic restaurants are booming in Antwerp. The city offers infinite challenges for foodies. Here are 3 hotspots that you might wanna check out:

  • Bites & Wines: in her cosy mini-eatery Katherine Nash shows that vegan cuisine isn’t boring and monotonous at all. The menu, on which you’ll find no meat or dairy, changes every day. Katherine uses fresh biological ingredients and her meals are all gluten-free. The perfect place for people with a food allergy or intolerance. Oude Beurs 60, 2000 Antwerp, www.bitesandwines.be

  • Tan: “Cross cultural living food” is this health shop/cooking class/restaurant’s mantra. In the shopping area, you can buy specific kitchen utensils such as juicers and the Vitamix superjuicer. You’ll also find biological fruits and veggies, gluten-free grocery goods, healthy candy and all kinds of soy products. The restaurant menu is entirely gluten- and lactose-free. You can also follow a cooking couse on the basis of “living foods”. A truly inspiring place! De Burburestraat 6, 2000 Antwerp, tanclub.org

  • Chickpea: Jossy, who comes from Israel, opened this place only recently. The number of places is very limited: four people can sit around the table, five at the counter by the window. Jossy sells Italian coffees and fresh juices. There’s hummus in 5 varieties (such as chickpeas and mushrooms) and salads. What to think of a low carb tabouleh or fresh tomato-cucumber salad with mint? Exactly: irresistible! Oudaan 4, 2000 Antwerp, www.chickpea.be

Keep on eye on the blog, because we’ll share more hotspots next week!
